Pappenheim is situated on the river Altmühl , 11 km south of Weißenburg in Bavaria . Its major attractions are its mighty castle standing proudly on a hill, willow church built by a group of youth, historical buildings, churches, etc.  Pappenheim is one of the stops served by VGN S-bahn which connects people within the Great Nürnberger Land . We headed to Solnhofen in the morning, further to Pappenheim and then returned to Katzwang . The comfortable journey from Pappenheim to Katzwang was around 1 hour 10 minutes, with two changes in between. Waiting time of each transit was just a few minutes. We felt welcome when we entered into Pappenheim . A stone lady stretched her arms to welcome us. A half bald guy showed us the way. The town was quiet during the weekend. Colourful buildings saying hello to every pedestrian. The pharmacy Hoechstetter Apotheke Pappenheim in a green and red building was charming with flowers at every window. Solnhofen is a municipality in the district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen in the region of Middle Franconia in the Land of Bavaria in Germany . It lies within the Altmühl Valley . The area is famous in geology and palaeontology for Solnhofen limestone . This is a very fine-grained limestone from the Jurassic period which is an exceptionally fine Lagerstätte that preserves detailed fossil specimens. We started our trip from the suburb of Nürnberg , Katzwang . The journey to Solnhofen took about 1.5 hours.  We changed twice at Schwabach and  Treuchtlingen . It was a pleasant ride. Upon arrival at Solnhofen railway station, we could find the information about the famous panoramic walk easily. It is route 3. Clear signage is available all through the route. Happurg is a municipality in the district of Nürnberger Land in Bavaria in Germany. During World War II, a subcamp of Flossenbürg concentration camp was located here.  As we were in Nürnberg, my friend's home city, we took the S-bahn to this quiet spot on a Sunday. The S-bahn station in Happurg is a bit far from the city. All the way through to residential houses and the lake/reservoir was silent, with no one else seen.  Until we reached the path leading to the Happurger See (Lake), we saw signs of life. Folks were going to the lake to enjoy a relaxed Sunday. Initially, there were shades but then we were exposed to the strong sun. A 4-kilometer beautiful circular hiking trail leads around the Happurger reservoir. On the hike you can take a close look at the lake from all sides. Benches along the way invite you to linger and watch people playing their water spots. They looked more leisure than we, the tourists.  In summer you can find a nice spot to rest on the way ...
