Vietnam Practicalities - Snacks in Hanoi
When speaking about food in Hanoi, one cannot skip street food. Our first street food in Hanoi was spring roll. Our guide took us to Hang Bac. A man was sitting in front a big pot of hot oil and frying only spring rolls. A woman helped to wrap it to guests. Wow, hot and fresh. Very tasty and we were happy.
The most unique dish is Banh Xeo Tom Thit. Here serves the best version. It is a paper thin pancake stuffed with veg and meat. The pancake is very crispy. One puts salad onto the pancake, fold it and then wrapped in edible paper. The whole thing is then dipped into a dressing. It is a compound texture with different flavours. Gorgeous! It should be one of the signature dishes. It was served on many tables.
The spring rolls and minced squid cake were outstanding. Crispy and bouncing!
Grilled pork was served with salad and noodle. It made us full. When the fried fish arrived at the very end, we could only eat a bit. It was a bit rough.
