Yehliu Geopark 野柳

It was the seventh day of our trip in Taiwan.   We went to Yehliu after visiting a few Japanese houses. There are a few ways to visit Yehliu. One is taking a coach from the Taipei Railway station.  We took a shortcut, took the same bus (Gwanghwang 1815) at Taipei City Government Station.  Frequency is every 20 minutes.  We were lucky that the bus came very soon and we could arrive in less than an hour.  We got off the big street and walked towards the Yehliu Geopark.  On the way were boats and numerous seafood restaurants.

The time we visited was the Labour Day holiday in China. So, loads of Chinese tourists.  The purchase of tickets did not take much time since lots of ticket windows were opened.  We passed through some artificial rocks and then reached the geopark area.  All natural rocks in different shapes shaped by erosion.

Yehliu Geopark is divided into 3 areas.  You will see the mushroom and ginger rocks in the first area.  Present there are also the candle rocks and ice cream rock.

Presence of mushroom and ginger rocks is found in the second area. But tourists' attention is mainly the Queen's head. Crowds of tourist were queuing up to take a photo of the Queen's head which rumour said that the head will fall apart one day. But in my opinion the fairy's shoe and carp rock are more beautiful and look more real. Not far away stand a cute princess. Which one do you prefer?

The third area is wave-cut platform located on the other side.  One side of the platform is close to steep cliffs and the other side angry waves.  If you are not in rush, follow the path to go up to the hill to enjoy the nature, birds, butterflies and a panoramic view of the park.

We were lucky with the weather. No strong sunshine and we escaped the rain, either when having our snack or in the coach back to Taipei.
